Cultivating connection in American Sign Language

Mission
To provide an experiential environmental stewardship program in American Sign Language
Vision
The cornerstone program of the Deaf EcoFarm is an immersive environmental stewardship program that provides individuals with essential skills in agriculture, sustainability, biodiversity, and environmental education.
Deaf EcoFarm hosts programming in American Sign Language, providing direct access for Deaf and signing communities. A variety of offerings allows for maximal impact across a range of audiences and provides intentional access points into agricultural and environmental fields.
With ASL programming giving direct access to Deaf audiences, Deaf EcoFarm also carves out a space for burgeoning interpreters to hone their craft. Voice interpreting practice and engagement with Deaf community members creates a strong linguistic and ethical foundation for new professionals, creating a pipeline for ASL-English interpreters to address current shortages
